AlfaPOS on Stripe Reader S700 and S710
You can now run AlfaPOS directly on the Stripe Reader S700 and S710. The reader becomes a complete point of sale – create a sale, take the payment, and send the receipt on one device, without the need for a phone or a tablet.
AlfaPOS on Stripe readers has all the functions of the mobile version. Roles and permissions work the same way they do on the phone, so you can choose what each team member is allowed to do. This includes permissions for issuing refunds or viewing the sales history. All payment methods are supported too, including cash and invoices.
The S700 connects over WiFi or Ethernet. The S710 has a cellular connection for markets, events, and anywhere you can’t count on the WiFi.
Setting up your reader
1. Check that your Stripe account was created by AlfaPOS
For a Stripe reader to work with the app, your Stripe account needs to be managed by AlfaPOS, meaning it should be created from AlfaPOS on iOS or Android.
To check this, sign in at dashboard.stripe.com and look at the top left corner where your account name is shown. If underneath you see a second line reading AlfaPOS, your Stripe account is in the right state.
If you don’t see AlfaPOS in that second line, you’ll need to create a second Stripe account directly from AlfaPOS. Stripe can copy your business details from the account you already have, so there’s little to fill in.
- In AlfaPOS, go to More → Stripe account and tap Disconnect Stripe account.
- Back on the More screen, tap the Connect Stripe banner, then Create new Stripe account.
- Sign in with your existing Stripe credentials.
- When asked which account you’d like to connect, tap Create new account.
- Choose the account for Stripe to copy your business details from.
2. Check that your reader is registered in your Stripe Dashboard
If you registered a Stripe reader before this update, AlfaPOS won’t automatically start on the reader. If you’d like your reader to run AlfaPOS, reach out to us at support@alfapos.ca.
If you haven’t yet registered your reader with Stripe, follow these steps.
On the reader:
- Swipe right from the left edge of the screen and tap Settings.
- Enter the admin passcode. The default is 07139, unless it was changed.
- Tap Generate pairing code, and leave the code on the screen.
In your Stripe Dashboard:
- Go to Terminal → Readers and click Register reader.
- Enter the pairing code from the reader screen, then click Next.
- Give the reader a name and pick a location.
- Click Register.
3. Reboot the reader
Once the reader is registered, restart it. It’ll install AlfaPOS and open the app automatically.

In case you missed it
Cash payments
You can now accept cash right inside AlfaPOS. Choose Cash at checkout and enter the amount the customer handed you – AlfaPOS does the math and shows the change due. Cash sales appear in your history alongside card transactions with a Cash label, refunds settle instantly, and because cash doesn’t need a connection, the flow keeps working even when the internet drops.
Sales report
Card, cash, and invoice sales appear together in one place, for any period you choose. Pick a period and AlfaPOS lays out your gross sales, discounts, taxes, net sales, refunds, and tips, with separate views for each way customers paid. The whole report exports as a CSV when your accountant needs the raw numbers.
